The most famous city of the UAE, Dubai has created an economy solely on tourism. Formerly a small fishing village, it is now the most fashionable destination in the entire Middle East! Showcase of luxury and extravagance, Dubai is known for its luxurious hotels, huge shopping malls and socialites sporting events (skiing, diving, motor ...). Through its openness, the city is home to over 140 nationalities.
But Dubai is not just bling. The other dark side of the Emirate, and yet not the least is its white sandy beaches, traditional souks, camel racing, its palaces, its desert ...
In Dubai there is something for everyone! But not for every budget.
The nightlife in Dubai is rather lively. From dusk, when temperatures drop, the terraces of bars and cafés fill while nightclubs are preparing. Be careful though, most of them close at 3am.
The place of the more traditional Emirati output is coffee shisha. On Sheikh Zayed Road, one discovers the "young and hip" version of the Cosmo Café. For the quaintness, try more toward the Jumeirah Shisha Courtyard, or at Souq Madinat Jumeirah Central Plaza (only that), the relaxed atmosphere is provided by oud player, a kind of lute with local and harmonious sounds delicate.
The best bars are also within the major trading places: neighborhood of Jumeirah, Sheikh Zayed Road, Wafi Pyramids. All genres are allowed: marine and romantic for the Bahri Bar (Jumeirah), Asian for Buddha Bar (ditto) and Ginseng (Wafi Pyramids), "Arabian Nights" at the Rooftop (Jumeirah), West for Vintage (Sheikh Zayed Road) famous for his "grand cru" wine and cheese.
The city also has clubs in various environments: the Boudoir Jumeirah, as its name suggests, has created a more intimate style while velvet and crystals. The Cameleon & Vice (Wafi Pyramids) wants relaxed, animated by live jazz and ethnic music. The two most chic places are however Tangerine on Sheiks Zayed Road, Jumeirah and Trilogy. To go into these posh clubs, it will show their credentials and, if possible, book well in advance.
If you feel like going to the movies, know that most major malls are home cinemas to complete enough programming for prices between 20 and 30 dirhams (4 to € 6.50). Supermarkets are also often equipped with karaoke and bowling.
For culture vultures, the Madinat Theatre, located in Souk Madinat Jumeirah, offers a wide range of entertainment, Russian ballet at the New York musical. With prices between 12 and 45 € or so, the price / performance ratio is excellent, especially when one considers prestigious in which we give performances.
